Multilingual guest guide
One guest guide, in every guest’s language.
What VidiVeni writes in six languages, what you write once, and how every guest gets to their own language.
What is a multilingual guest guide?
A multilingual guest guide gives every guest the same information — arrival, wifi, the house, the area — in a language they read. With VidiVeni that is not one folder with every language in a row, but one guide per language: a German guest opens a guide that is in German from the descriptions to the buttons.
It matters because a guest guide only works when it is read. A house rule a guest does not understand is one they cannot follow, a tip they first have to run through a translator gets skipped, and what they cannot read, they end up asking you.
What is in which language
-
Six languages, one per guide
Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish or Flemish, the Dutch of Belgium. You choose the language when you make a guide, and everything VidiVeni writes in it is in that language: the descriptions, the practical tips and the buttons.
-
What you write, you write once
Your welcome, the lines on your favourites, the descriptions of your own places and what only guests see, such as your house details and how the key box works: you write it in your own language. In your guides in other languages it appears translated automatically, with a line saying so.
-
You read along
You read every translation on the dashboard, and correct whatever you do not like. A new automatic translation never overwrites your correction. And in the guide your guest can switch your welcome, the descriptions of your own places and your house details back to the original, as you wrote them.
-
Names stay names
The names of your business and your own places, web and email addresses and anything written with a digit, such as a time or a code, stay exactly as you wrote them. Your wifi details and your door code are never sent to the service that translates.
-
Your guest chooses
If your guide is in one language, the QR code in the room opens it straight away; if it is in several, your guest first picks theirs. A language added later is offered by the same code on its own, without reprinting anything.
How VidiVeni makes it multilingual
You make one guide of your area per language, from the same checked catalogue and with the same favourites and own places; every plan can offer all six languages. What you write yourself we translate automatically into every other guide language as soon as you save it, so it is ready when you make a guide in that language.
Your public page does the same: in a language other than yours, your words appear translated, with a line saying so. Change your original and the translation is made again; if you had corrected it yourself, your guest reads your new original until you save your correction again or ask for a new translation.
What hosts ask
Does an extra language cost more?
No. Every plan can offer all six guide languages, and adding one changes nothing about what you pay: the price follows your rooms or your tours, not the number of languages.
Do I have to write my own texts in every language?
No. Your welcome, the lines on your favourites, the descriptions of your own places and your house details you write once, in your own language. In your guides in other languages they appear translated automatically, with a line saying so, and you can read and correct every translation on the dashboard.
What happens to my correction if I change my text later?
A new automatic translation never overwrites your correction. If you then change the original, the guide shows your new original until you save your correction again or ask for a new translation, and the dashboard shows you what changed in your original.
What is not translated?
The names of your business and your own places stay as you wrote them, as do web and email addresses and anything written with a digit, such as a time or a code. Your wifi name, your wifi password and your door code are never sent to the translation service, even where you repeat them in a text.
How does a guest get the guide in their own language?
Through the QR code in the room, or on the card for a tour. When your place or tour has guides in several languages, your guest picks theirs first when they scan; when there is one, it opens straight away. A language you add later is offered by the same code on its own.
