Digital guest guide

The digital guest guide, explained.

What it is, what belongs in it and how to get one for your B&B, your hotel or your tour.

What is a digital guest guide?

A digital guest guide is the information guests used to find in a folder in the room — the wifi, how the house works, tips for the area — on their own phone instead, opened from a link or a QR code. A good one is in the guest’s language and works without a connection.

It also goes by digital welcome book or guidebook. The difference from paper: you change it without reprinting anything, and it goes out of the door with your guest.

What belongs in one

  • Arrival and wifi

Check-in and check-out times, the door code or key box, and the wifi password: the first thing a guest looks for, and nothing that belongs on a public page.

  • The house

What a guest needs to know about your place, in your own words: a welcome, how things work, what you ask of them.

  • The area

Where to eat, what to see and where you send guests yourself, each place with a photograph, a spot on the map and a practical tip.

  • The guest’s language

A German guest reads German and a Spanish guest Spanish, from the descriptions to the buttons.

  • No connection needed

Once opened it stays on the phone, because a guest is often exactly where the network gives out: in a cellar, on the metro, abroad on a thin data plan.

How VidiVeni makes one

The part about the area comes from our checked catalogue of real places, each with a spot on the map, a description and a practical tip, and photographs where we have them. You add your welcome, your favourites and your house details; the guide itself comes in the languages your guests speak.

One QR code in the room opens the guide, or on the card for a tour. The wifi and the door code come only with the link behind that code; the ordinary share link and your public page never show them.

What hosts ask

Does my guest need to download an app?

No. The guide opens in the browser, from a link or the QR code in the room, and it can be added to the home screen like an app. No app store, no account.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, once it has been opened: the text is then on the phone, and the photographs and the map too once your guest saves the guide for offline use.

Which languages can it be in?

Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish and Flemish. You make one guide per language, and when there is more than one, your guest picks their own when they scan the code. How many languages you can offer depends on your plan.

Can I change it later?

Yes. Your welcome, your favourites and what only guests see, such as the wifi and the door code, can be changed whenever you like, and the code already in the room keeps working. A place you would not send anyone to yourself, you take out.

What does it cost?

Nothing for the first hosts, for as long as the pilot runs. Prices are agreed after the pilot, with the hosts who ran it.
